Denny Gutierrez was known for his faceted melon bowls.  However, he also created exceptional painted vessels. This jar is a striking water jar shape with a round shoulder and an elongated neck.  The jar is painted with 39 feathers encircling the shoulder.  They are painted at a slight angle. Above the feathers are very tightly painted clouds and rain designs.  The jar has a highly stone polished surface.  The jar is from 1987.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Denny Gutierrez”.
