Denny Gutierrez was known for his faceted melon bowls.  However, he also created exceptional painted vessels. This is a striking jar with a feather pattern painted around the shoulder of the piece. The entire surface is fully polished.  It is not often that I’ve seen his long neck vessels with the sharp shoulder, but it is an elegant shape.  There are two elongated sections with cloud designs and two with rain designs, extending up the neck of the jar.  They are subtle but precision painted!  The jar is from 1987, so very early in his career.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Denny Gutierrez”.
