Denny Gutierrez was known for his faceted melon bowls.  However, he also created exceptional painted vessels. This tall jar has a round shoulder and a long neck. The entire piece is fully polished.  It is painted with 44 feathers encircling the piece.  Above the feathers in four sections are oval cloud designs.  The lines are all tightly painted before the piece was fired.  The jar is very highly polished and fired a deep black coloration.  It is from 1986.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Denny Gutierrez”.
