$ 400.00

Faustina Gutierrez was the mother of Celestino Gutierrez and the grandmother of potters Effie Garcia, Sally Tafoya, Ethel Yazza, and Eugene Gutierrez. She was creative in her distinctive style of pottery designs.  This oval plate has braided handles and is fully polished red.  The design on the front is painted with red and white clay.  It is an antelope next to a cactus.  Note the detail on the cacti and the line in the background for perspective.  It was traditionally fired.  It is polished on the back and signed, “Faustina”. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It includes a metal museum mount stand.
