Margaret Lou Gutierrez was a daughter of noted potters Tonita & Juan Roybal.  She began making pottery in the 1970s and this is one of her pieces from the 1980s. The bowl is highly polished and fired to a near gunmetal slivery appearance.  It is painted with an avanyu (water serpent) as the design.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Margaret Lou Gutierrez”.
