Margaret Gutierre was famous for her polychrome clay animal figures.  After her brother, Luther passed away, Margaret both made and painted the pottery.  This is a group of three figures. There are a bear, donkey, and giraffe.  All of the colors are from natural clay slips.   The giraffe and bear are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  The donkey is in very good condition but has a small area of missing slip on its back (see second photo)  Each is signed on the bottom, “Margaret”.
