Virginia Gutierrez was of the few polychrome potters from Nambe Pueblo. She is known for her experimentation with various clay slips.  This jar has a round shoulder and a short neck. The opening is oval in shape.  The jar is painted with feathers and bear paws.  There are four different colors of clay used on this piece. It is signed on the bottom, “V. Gutierrez”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. There is a second-place ribbon from the 1976 Eight Northern Pueblos Show.
