Haungooah, Art Cody – Black & Sienna Bowl with Yei Dancers (1973)

4"w x 3"h

$ 625.00

This larger bowl by Art Cody Haungooah has been fired black and then two-toned sienna.  There are eight male and female Yei dancers encircling the bowl. Each of the dancers is sienna in coloration. They are lightly etched into the surface of the bowl while there is deeper etching around them.  The bottom of the bowl is black.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Haungoah”, but it was only in 1973 that Art began making black-and-sienna pottery, which indicates it is from 1973, making it an early piece.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  Shipping included.
