Haungooah, Art Cody – Bowl with Katsina, Flute Player and Turquoise (1975)

1.75"w x 1.5"h

$ 400.00

This is a complex smaller bowl by Art Cody Haungooah.  It was fully polished and then etched with design. On one side is a flute player with an inset piece of turquoise.  The other side has a Hemis Katsina.  Separating them are bands of feathers, cloud, and rain imagery.  Take a moment and note the depth of the sgraffito work and how he used the matte area to create additional designs.  There is “rain” coming from the clouds in front of the Hemis Katsina!  Exceptional.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Haungooah”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
