Dorothy learned to make pottery from her mother, Mary Frances Herrera. Her grandmother, Laurencita Herrera, was one of the finest Cochiti potters of the 1930s through the 1970s. Her siblings, Edwin Herrera and Mary Ramona Herrera are well-known potters that use traditional pottery making methods passed down through their family. This is one of her classic style bear storytellers with three cubs. It is slipped with white clay and the cubs are charming! It is signed on the bottom, “D. H.”.
