Homer, Fabian – Large Clay Heartline Bear (1970’s)
This bear is by Zuni artist Fabian Homer. Fabian Homer is a descendant of Zuni fetish carver Lambert Homer and is married to Emma Homer. He is primarily known for his stone carvings. This is an unusual bear made from clay. It is very detailed in the painted designs and has a heartline. Note as well the sculptural form of the bear. It is from the 1970s. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Fabian Homer”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
