The piece is painted with bee-weed and native clay slips, and traditionally fired. The plate has a tightly painted eagle tail design that encompasses the entire surface. The back is also fully polished. It is a striking use of design. The plate was traditionally fired. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Ramon Tahbo Howato” and a pipe, as he is “Tobacco Clan”.
