6.5"w x 11"h

$ 1,200.00

Karen Kahe Charley is a daughter of Marcella Kahe. She learned to make pottery from her mother in 1980. This tall jar is coil built, painted with bee-weed and red clay, and traditionally fired.  The jar has a high shoulder and a turned-out rim.  The entire piece is fully stone polished.  It is an elegant shape.  The top of the shoulder is painted with a series of swirling Sikyatki birds.  Below the shoulder are sections with larger swirling birds.  The bodies of each bird consist of classic Hopi-Tewa designs.  The jar is signed on the bottom with Karen’s hallmark.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
