Val Kahe is a daughter of noted potter Gloria Kahe.  She is known for her intricately painted pottery.  This plate is fully polished on the front and back.  The design is a Sun Katsina mask in the center.  It is surrounded by a feather design, much like the actual mask has surrounding feathers.  The plate is painted with bee-weed (black) and red clay slips.  It has been traditionally fired to create the fire clouds.  It is signed on the back.
