Quanita Kalestewa (Juanita Kalestewa) (b. 1932) is a daughter of Nellie Bica and the wife of Jack Kalestewa.  She is the mother of Erma Homer, Roweena Lention, and Connie Yatsayte.  She started out making jewelry and then began making pottery in the 1970s.  This bowl is coil built and painted with three heartline deer. This is a classic design for Zuni pottery. The heartline deer is used on Zuni pottery to represent the center, spirit or, “heart” of the animal.  The bowl is signed on the bottom, “Q. Kalestewa”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
