Lasiloo, Alan – Large Micaceous Jar with Corn Design

8.5"w x 6.5"h

$ 600.00

Alan Lasiloo learned to make pottery at IAIA.  He began making micaceous pottery and then added painted designs.  This jar is coil-built and made from micaceous clay. The jar has a sharp shoulder and sloping sides.  There is a single ear of corn in relief on the surface. The husks are raised and the corn is incised to create the “kernels”.  The jar is a reddish/brown coloration.  It is signed on the bottom, “Alan Lasiloo”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  While he no longer makes pottery, his work was always creative and innovative.
