This is a large bowl by Carmel Lewis. It is certainly inspired by the work of her mother, Lucy Lewis. The bowl has a round shape. The outside is painted with bee-weed to create interlocking bird wings. The lines are even and it has a creative flow of design. It is signed “Carmel Lewis”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.

Carmel Lewis is the youngest daughter of renowned potter Lucy Lewis. Along with her sisters Emma and Dolores, she continues the family tradition of making classic Acoma pottery. Carmel's pottery brings to mind the early work of her mother, but with a more modern appearance and her own intricate designs.
