Lewis, Drew – Large Four Color Jar with Acoma Birds (1980’s)

9.5"w x 9"h

$ 950.00

Drew Lewis was a son of noted potter Lucy M. Lewis.  This is an exceptional larger jar made in the 1980’s.  The jar is coil built and painted with four colors: white, black, orange and pink.  The pink coloration is on the flowers.  The jar has three large Acoma style birds as the design.  Each bird is surrounded by plant designs. There is a rainbow pattern around the neck of the jar.  There are additional flowers around the neck. The jar has a rounded shape and a short neck, which is an elegant form.  The piece is signed on the bottom, “Drew Lewis”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  There is one small area of spalling on one of the birds.  It is not often that we see pieces by Drew, especially in this largeer size!
