Emma Lewis was a daughter of noted potter Lucy M. Lewis.  This bowl is a classic of her style with thin walls and tightly painted designs.  There are heartline deer which encircle the bowl.  Each deer is painted with a red heartline, which indicates the center or spirit of the deer.  This is a traditional Acoma and Zuni design which works perfectly on this bowl.  The rim has a fineline mountain patter.  The bowl is signed on the bottom, “Emma Lewis”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
