Emma Lewis was a daughter of noted potter Lucy M. Lewis.  This small jar is painted with bee-weed (black) and red clay slip.  This piece has three Acoma style birds and flowers painted onto the surface.  Note the precision and tight painting for the size!  The jar is signed on the bottom, “Emma Lewis”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
