Emma Lewis was a daughter of noted potter Lucy M. Lewis.  This is is a charming small plate.  It has a Mimbres inspired turkey in the center.  Potters from Acoma began using Mimbres iconography in the 1960s.  The Mimbres pottery was made in the 1100s in southern New Mexico.  It is signed on the back, “Emma Lewis”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
