Emma Lewis was a daughter of noted potter Lucy M. Lewis.  This is one of her few plates.  It is painted with a star design emanating out from the center.  The rim is corrugated with a triangular design that is impressed into the wet clay before firing.  It is painted with bee-weed (black) and orange clay slip.  It is signed on the side of the rim, “E. Lewis”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
