Lewis, Emma – Plate with Two Acoma Birds and Corrugated Rim (1970s)
Emma Lewis was a daughter of noted potter Lucy M. Lewis. This is one of her classic plates. It is painted with two interlocking Acoma birds over a field, painted with light orange-colored clay. They are painted with bee-weed (black). The rim of the plate is corrugated in a triangular pattern. It is signed on the side of the rim, “E. Lewis”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
