Eric Lewis has been talking about making some larger pieces and this is one of the first. The jar is entitled, “Sweet Nectar”.  The jar is an elegant shape with a high, round shoulder and a short neck.  There is a graphic hummingbird on one side.  It is surrounded by cloud, wind, and stylized floral designs. It is a complex piece in design yet the imagery flows perfectly across the surface and matches the shape.  The strong graphics on Eric’s pottery give them a modernist appearance. However, look closer and you can see a variety of traditional designs that he has used for the designs that are all based on traditional Acoma patterns. The jar is signed on the bottom, “Eric Lewis 2021”.
