$ 2,800.00

This is an exceptional water jar by Lucy Lewis.  She was one of the great Matriarch potters of the past century. This jar is coil built and painted using bee-weed, a plant for the black along with the traditional Acoma red clay.  The jar has a round shoulder and a fluted or undulating rim.  The shape is elegant and the piece is fully painted,  Around the neck are large birds and plants.  Below are mountain, plant, and cloud designs.  It is a classic design that has been fully painted on the surface of the jar.  It is from the late 1970s and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom, “Lucy M.  Lewis”.  Definitely a classic in design and shape, making it a unique piece of history!
