Lomakema, Lorna – Lidded Bowl with Bird Designs (1972) with Ribbon

Lorna Lomakema is a daughter of noted potter Sadie Adams.  She began making pottery in the 1970s’ but no longer make any work in clay.  This bowl was made in 1972.  The piece is made with the traditional red Hopi clay.  It is painted with birds on both sides.  The piece received a second-place ribbon at the 1972 Museum of Northern Arizona Hopi Show.  It has the ribbon and the original entry card that goes with it.  The piece is signed on the bottom “LL” and the Sadie Adams flower.  The bowl is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair. The lid has a small slip crack on the top but otherwise in good condition.
