Beginning in the early 1970’s, Joseph Lonewolf revolutionized the world of Santa Clara pottery by incorporating his sgraffito (lightly etching the surface of the clay) and incised (more deeply cut into the clay) designs. This seedpot is from the mid-1980’s. It is polished red and incised with three Mimbres inspired frogs. Separating each of the frogs is a fish. There is a small medallion with a butterfly and a larger medallion on the top with they yearly symbol. Joseph used green clay slips to highlight the designs. The seedpot is signed on the bottom. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
