Nelda Lucero (b. 1957) is a daughter of Marie Torivio and a sister of Mary Torivio and Loretta Garcia.  She learned to make pottery from her mother.  This jar is coil-built and is a classic water jar shape.  The jar is fully painted with interlocking butterflies.  Separating the butterflies are rain designs. The jar is painted with bee-weed and clay slips.  It is a striking design that perfectly matches the shape of the jar.  It is signed on the bottom, “N. Lucero”.
