Maho, Garrett – Four Color Jar with Hummingbirds

6"w x 3.5"h

$ 550.00

Garrett Maho is known for his traditional and innovative Hopi-Tewa pottery.  This jar has a wide shoulder, sloping sides, and a short neck.  The jar is fully polished.  The top is painted with bee-weed and two colors of clay slips.  There are four hummingbirds as the design.  There is a flower design on the top with a mottled interior. The base is painted with two different clay slips in a “painterly” style of broad brush strokes.  The jar was traditionally fired and there and there are blushes on the surface.  The piece is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Garrett Maho”.  Garrett has won numerous awards including the “Helen Naha” Award at Santa Fe Indian Market.
