Maho, Garrett – Large Jar with Swirling Humingbirds

9"w x 5"h

$ 1,175.00

Garrett Maho is known for his traditional and innovative Hopi-Tewa pottery.  This large has a round shoulder and a short neck.  It is thin-walled and an elegant shape.  The entire surface is stone polished. The jar has four large hummingbirds painted with bee-weed and clay slips. The birds are painted so they are swirling at the shoulder.  Around the neck are old-style dragonflies.  The jar was traditionally fired and there and there are blushes on the surface.  The piece is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Garrett Maho”.  Garrett has won numerous awards including the “Helen Naha” Award at Santa Fe Indian Market.
