Anita Martinez was a granddaughter of Maria Martinez and a daughter of Santana & Adam Martinez.  She was the mother of noted potter Barbara Gonzales and grandmother of Cavan Gonzales.  This is a striking piece of her pottery with a tall shape and an undulating carved rim.  The jar was highly polished and fired to silvery gunmetal coloration.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay “Anita Martinez”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
