This large bowl by Maria Martinez is one of her classic designs.  It was made and polished by Maria Martinez and painted by her daughter-in-law Santana. It is fully polished and painted with an avanyu or water serpent.  The avanyu encircles the bowl with the tongue and tail overlapping and clouds above the avanyu.  The bowl is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Marie + Santana”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  Definitely a classic!
