This is the only nativity set made by Grace Medicine Flower and her father, Camilio Tafoya.  It was made in 1979.  The set has seven pieces.  Grace made the Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus figures.  Mary and Joseph are carved and polished.  Sections are matte and painted with clay slips.  The faces are polished tan.  Baby Jesus is polished and polychrome.  The figure sits in a polished cradle and holds a matte piece of pottery.  The animals were made by Camilo.  The horse and lamb are both fully etched and the horse is burnished.  The lamb is white slipped and polished.  It is an exceptional set and beautifully designed and traditionally fired.  The pieces by Grace are all signed and dated 1979.  The two pieces by Camilio are signed and dated 1979 as well.  They are all in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  The horse by Camilio has had its front leg broken and glued, which can be seen in the photos.
