This miniature bowl is a collaborative piece by Grace Medicine Flower and her father, Camilio Tafoya.  It is from the early 1970’s and it was fired “black-and-red”.  It is a distinctive firing technique where the piece is covered before the manure is put on to turn it black.  The bowl is highly polished and etched with a water serpent encircling the jar.  The central medallion, which is red, has a yei figure.  Typically Camilio would make the piece and Grace would etch the designs.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Grace Medicne Flower and Camilio Tafoya”.   The bowl is in very good condition with no chips,cracks, restoration or repair.
