Medicine Flower, Grace – Jar with Four Deer Dancers (1974)

$ 1,600.00

This larger jar by Grace Medicine Flower is from 1974.  She remains renowned for her creative pottery.  The jar is fully polished and the neck is matte.  There are four Pueblo Deer Dancers encircling the jar.  Each is etched into the clay before the piece was fired.  Each figure is well proportioned and detailed.  Why do they have two sticks or canes in their hands? So that when they are walking, they use the two canes to imitate the front legs of the deer walking!  In-person, during the Pueblo dances, it is a beautiful appearance!  The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Grace Medicine Flower”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
