This seedpot by Grace Medicine Flower is from the 1980s.  She remains renown for her creative pottery.  This piece is one of her few black fired miniatures, as she would most often create red-ware.  The design is a skunk surrounded by a rainbow. The skunk is realistic in style. The designs were etched into the clay before the piece was fired.  Note the contrast of both matte and polished surfaces, along with the various depths of etching!  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Grace Medicine Flower”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
