Medina, Elizabeth – Jar with Four Zia Birds, Rainbows and Bear Lid
Elizabeth Medina is known for her traditional style of Zia pottery. Each piece is coil built, painted with native clays, and native fired. The jar has four Zia birds encircling the piece. Each bird is painted differntly. Next to the birds are flowers. Above the birds, around the shoulder of the jar is a red polished rainbow. Note the rain clouds above and the intricate hatchwork design below. It is a very fully designed and complex jar for the size! The base of the jar is polished. The jar has a lid with a small bear. It is painted with a bird and flowers on a red polished flat surface. The jar is signed on the side “Elizabeth Medina, Zia”.
