This is a classic Zia water jar by Elizabeth Medina.  She is known for her traditional style of Zia pottery.  Each piece is coil built, painted with native clays, and native fired.  The jar has three Zia birds with flowers.  They are each painted differently and the red and tan areas are fully polished.  Over each of the birds is a polished rainbow with rain designs.  At the base of each rainbow, polished tan is a cloud pattern.  Around the neck are flowers, clouds, and rain designs. The lid has a base polished red and there is a bear on top with a bird and flower as the design.  The jar signed on the side “Elizabeth Medina, Zia”.
