Elizabeth Medina is known for a traditional style of Zia pottery.  Each piece is coil built, painted with native clays and native fired.  This jar is painted with four different birds.  Each bird is a different style with either painted or polished bodies and wings.  Note all the various colors used to create the birds!  Near the neck are flowers and the base are rain clouds.  The rain designs are very intricately painted with linear and hatchwork designs.  The lid is a bear with a bird painted on top.  The jar is signed on the side “Elizabeth Medina, Zia.”
