Medina, Marcellus – Large Jar with Butterfly, Hummingbird and Dancers

6.5"w x 6.75"h

$ 700.00

Marcellus Medina is known for contemporary painted pottery.  The jar is made by his wife, Elizabeth Medina.  Marcellus has painted on the surface with acrylic. It is a larger jar for his acrylic painting, but it also gives him more space for his exceptional painting.  There are Zia birds around the neck.  Each bird is different.  Around the body of the jar, there are two female dancers in separate medallions.  Separating them are a painted butterfly and a hummingbird.  There is wonderful detail and movement in the figures and the hummingbird.  It is a striking variation in his style of painting but amazing detail.  The jar is signed on the side, “Marcellus + Elizabeth Medina 2019”.
