Moquino, Corn – Jar with Clouds and Zia Swirls (1980s)
This jar by Corn Moquino is a traditional water jar shape with a wide shoulder and elongated neck. The jar is fully polished. There is a large cloud design on one side. On the opposite side is a smaller cloud pattern. There are rain designs and swirling Zia plants. Interestingly, Corn was both Zia and Santa Clara, but it is not often I’ve seen Zia designs on his pottery. The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Corn Moquino”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
