$ 1,200.00

Ty Moquino is the the19-year-old son of noted potter Jennifer Tafoya.  This is one of his clay masks.  They are inspired by the science fiction he has read, along with being a commentary on the environment and sustainability.  This mask is entitled, “a:konpiye” in Tewa, or “South”.  It is part of a directional series. The mask is carved and sculptural in shape.  There are large stone polished sections on the mask while the remainder is matte and areas of micaceous clay slip.  It is a complex piece as part of his mask series. It is great to see new work from his young potter.  Ty won the “Best of Youth” award at the Heard Museum Indian Market in 2017 for one of his masks!  It is signed on the back.  A museum mount can be made for this piece for an additional charge.
