Moquino, Ty – Clay Fish with Red Designs

3.5" long x 2.5"h

$ 175.00

Ty Moquino is a son of noted potters Jennifer and Mike Moquino.  At only 14 years old he is making some creative pottery!  This fish figure is inspired in shape by the fish figures created by his grandfather, Corn Moquino. The fish is coil built and fully polished. The fins and tail are etched.  There are additional clay colors of red and white added for the fins and tail.  All the various colors are derived from natural clay slips. The fish has a charming and whimsical appearance.  It is exciting to see where he will be going with his pottery.  This year in 2017 he won “Best of Youth” award for one of his pieces of pottery at the Heard Museum Indian Market!
