Moquino, Ty – “Future Vision”, Clay Mask

7.5"h (9.5"h w/ museum mount)

$ 1,600.00

Ty Moquino is the 19-year-old son of noted potter Jennifer Tafoya.  This is one of his clay masks.  They are inspired by the science fiction he has read, along with being a commentary on the environment and sustainability.  This mask is entitled, “Future Vision”.  There is a polished visor across the eyes. The spikes are stone polished, and the remainder is slipped with mica.  It is a striking and complicated piece as part of his mask series. It is great to see new work from his young potter.  Ty won the “Best of Youth” award at the Heard Museum Indian Market in 2017 for one of his masks!  It is signed on the back, “Ty”.  A museum mount was made for this piece.
