Moquino, Ty – Large Mask With Goggles and Sunface (Age 15)

4.25"w x 6.5"h (8.5"h on stand)

$ 425.00

Ty Moquino is a son of noted potter Jennifer Moquino.  At only 15 years old he is making some creative pottery!  This is one of his larger masks.  They are inspired by the science fiction he has read, along with being a commentary on the environment, sustainability and even imagery from Standing Rock.  This mask is matte with polished areas on the front. The goggles are polished and etched with a rain and mountain design while the mouthpiece is etched with a sunface.  The eyes of the goggles are micaceous clay slipped.  There is some nice detail in the etching and the additional coloration is from additional clay slips.  The piece has a museum mount for it, so that it is stable.  Ty won the “Best of Youth” award at the Heard Museum Indian Market in 2017 for one of his masks!  It is signed on the back.
