Ty Moquino is a son of noted potter Jennifer Moquino.  At only 15 years old he is making some creative pottery!  This new piece is maybe one of my favorites so far!  It is in the shape of a space capsule pod which brings the astronauts back to earth. The central area is fully polished and the top and base are matte.  The central area is etched with a scene of a lunar landing, the earth in the sky and a moonscape view.  The etching is very intricate and the earth looks awesome!  The polished area is a nice background for the intricate designs.  Ty is very interested in space, technology and this influences his use of the clay.  Ty won the “Best of Youth” award at the Heard Museum Indian Market in 2017 for one of his masks!  It is signed on the bottom.
