Naha, Rainy – Bowl with Bear Paw Design and Ribbon (1994)

4.5"w x 4"h

$ 800.00

Rainy Naha is well known for her creative and intricately designed pottery.  This bowl is one of her early designs with bear paws around the neck and base.  In the center are thin lines.  Rainy said her earlier work was often inspired by the work of her mother, Helen “Feather Woman” Naha.  The top of the seed bowl has a tan clay slip.  The same tan slip is on the bottom.  The black is bee-weed and the bowl was traditionally fired.  It is signed on the bottom with a feather and “Rainy”.  The bowl has an Honorable Mention ribbon from the 1994 Santa Fe Indian Market.  The piece is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  Rainy has won numerous awards for her pottery at Santa Fe Indian Market and the Heard Market and her work continues to be a creative inspiration in Hopi-Tewa pottery.
