Naha, Sylvia – Seedpot with Lizard and Shard Designs

1.5"w x 1.75"h

$ 250.00

Sylvia Naha created pieces with the white clay polished surface painted with bee-weed (black) and native clay slips.  Throughout the 1980’s, Sylvia was considered among the most innovative of the Hopi potters.  Her pieces were classic in form and amazingly intricate in design.  This seedpot is small but very intricately painted!  There are lizards on two sides, each with very intricate shard designs for their bodies.  Separating them on each side are larger shard designs of the bird migration.  Again, lots of little lines!  It is wonderfully painted and designed for the size.  The bottom of the seedpot is signed with a feather and an “S”.  The piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
