Namingha, Les – “Crowd” Bowl

6"w x 5"h

$ 1,600.00

This is a new bowl by Les Namingha.  It is entitled, “Crowd”.  The bowl is painted with a series of overlapping ovals.  They seem to move and flow as the bowl is turned. Les says of this piece,

“It is a minimalist composition expressing both organized motion and unstable fluidity.  The idea and the title refer to our current times, with the demands for social distancing, general uncertainty and anticipatinng the return of the crowd”.

The idea of the crowd, something that has been missed during the pandemic, seems to find its way into the intensity and motion of this bowl.  In many ways, to my eye, they almost look like bird or parrot feathers, ruffled and colorful and, as Les says, unstable fluidity.  The bowl is signed on the bottom, “Les Namingha”.
