Namingha, Les – “First Mesa” Jar

7"w x 6"h

$ 2,800.00

Les Namingha is known for his modernistic shaped vessels and painted designs.  He learned to make pottery from his aunt, Dextra Quotskuyva.  This jar is a round shape and has four layers of relief on the surface.  The top layer is First Mesa or “the present day” and extending downward on the jar is both going deeper into the earth but also back in time.  At the bottom of the jar, Les has painted his signature pathway designs. There is also a section which is carved and inset with turquoise and coral.  Again this represents both those items found in the earth but also the past.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Les Namingha” 2019.
